Food for Life in London, an initiative from London’s Radha-Krishna Temple, has been feeding hot meals to the homeless for over 20 years, and in 2017 expanded it’s usual Monday to Thursday offering to include Fridays and Saturdays. Its incredible efforts were officially recognised in December 2017 when the chief organiser of the London-based service, Asish Soni, was honoured with a British Empire Medal for voluntary and charitable services to homeless people.

Where to find the best vegan food in London

Thanks to ethical eating initiatives such as Veganuary, more people than ever before are taking the plunge and going totally meat and dairy-free in 2018.

It's lucky then that PETA recognises London as the most veggie and vegan-friendly city on the planet, with more and more specialist restaurants (and pubs) opening every year.

Devotees are given new names at their initiation

‘I was working in investment banking and earning a decent salary but engaging in lots of drinking and drugging. I realised the path I was on was a dangerous one and decided to look at alternatives. After some years of practice and training, I took vows and received a spiritual name to help me remember Krishna. My birth name is James Edwards, but my spiritual name is Jai Nitai Dasa, which means “he who is the servant of the glorious lord Nityananda”.’

Its incredible efforts were officially recognised in December 2017 when the chief organiser of the London-based service, Acyuta Charan dasa (Asish Soni), was honoured with a British Empire Medal (BEM) for voluntary and charitable services to homeless people. The BEM is awarded for a “hands-on” service to the local community, either a long-term voluntary or charitable activity, or innovative work of a relatively short duration that has made a significant difference.

Vaishnava Home Deity Worship

Learn the rituals of worshiping the divine form

Deity worship is a key means by which to develop a personal conception of the Lord and the mood of service. In the home, it can help to make the Lord the centre of the household and worshippers to purify their existence. Ultimately it is the training ground for the spiritual world, and thus a fundamental aspect of one’s development in Krishna consciousness.

Kirtan is a feel-good call-and-response musical meditation. Its practice dates back to more than 5,000 years. It can be practised by anyone with an open mind - you do not need to be a good singer, a practitioner of yoga, or a follower of any religion or set of beliefs to experience its transformational benefits.

Join us for our annual kirtan weekend. The event is free and open to all so feel free to come along with your family and friends!
