Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara

A Window to the Spiritual World

When you think of London what comes to mind?

Shopping, night clubs and cheap thrills! In other words maya (illusion) and materialism. When you think of Oxford Street, what comes to mind? The stores, the bustle, the mad rush! Wait a minute. Turn off Oxford Street into Soho Street and you come upon a sand and orange painted building which you might miss at first. This is the ISKCON-Soho London temple.

Welcome to the world of Vaishnava culture and Vedic learning, the home of  Radha and Krishna. Welcome to the world of tranquillity, beauty and spiritual bliss. Welcome home.

Make your way to the first floor, leave your shoes on the racks and step into the Temple Room. On the altar in front you is the Lord Himself, none other than
Sri Sri Radha-Londonisvara (Sri Krishna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead and Srimati Radharani, His eternal consort and best devotee), Sri Giri Govardana, Lord Jagannatha, Lord Balarama, Lady Subadhra and Sri Sri Gaura Nitai.

These are the deities of the temple and it is recommended that you bow down and offer your obeisance to them. Behind you is the murti (form) of the founder acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Residents of Radha Krishna templeNot only a home for Radha and Krishna

The temple is not only home to the Deities of Radha-Londonisvara but is also an ashram for the brahmacaris and brahmacarinis. These are the men and women who manage the temple, look after the Deities, prepare offerings for the Lord and perform numerous other services throughout the day and through their lives. They can also be found out and about in London distributing Srila Prabhupada´s books, and chanting the Holy Name through the streets on Harinama Sankirtana.
