4 London days out to suit any budget

You don't have to fly abroad to feel like a tourist for the day. From food freebies to cultural experiences, boat rides to cheap swims - head to a new bit of the city and explore what's on offer there. Here are four adventures in the city to suit any budget.

Hare Krishna monks with a temple on wheels pulled by two bullocks have reached the final Thanet pits stop of their journey. The six day pilgrimage for peace set off from Ramsgate yesterday (August 20) and is due to arrive in Canterbury on Saturday (August 25). It arrived in Margate today.

Hare Krishna monks and a temple on wheels pulled by two bullocks will lead a six day pilgrimage for peace setting off from Ramsgate next Monday (August 20). The procession, which will be making its way to Canterbury, will also include music, food, philosophy and dance. It will be received by officials from Canterbury Cathedral on August 25 as part of a week-long, walking 'Padayatra' festival.

Hare Krishna! Film to Premiere in London

The wait in the UK is finally over! Hare Krishna! The Mantra, the Movement and the Swami who started it all(formerly known as Acharya) is coming to cinemas in the UK! Never before has there been a bigger opportunity for a mainstream audience in the UK to experience the incredible story of A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami (affectionately known as Srila Prabhupada), the 70-year-old Swami from India, who arrived in America without any support or money in the turbulent 1960s. Despite all difficulties and obstacles, his unflinching determination and faith ignited a worldwide spiritual phenomenon, known as the “Hare Krishna Movement” and officially named the “International Society of Krishna Consciousness” (ISKCON).

ISKCON London’s own record label, Radha Krishna records, is currently in production on an ISKCON 50th Anniversary London Mellows kirtan album.

The Radha Krishna Temple at ISKCON of Soho Street, London inaugurated London Mellows, an annual 24-hour kirtan weekend, in 2016 as an offering to Srila Prabhupada on ISKCON’s 50th anniversary.

Food for Life in London, an initiative from London’s Radha-Krishna Temple, has been feeding hot meals to the homeless for over 20 years, and in 2017 expanded it’s usual Monday to Thursday offering to include Fridays and Saturdays. Its incredible efforts were officially recognised in December 2017 when the chief organiser of the London-based service, Asish Soni, was honoured with a British Empire Medal for voluntary and charitable services to homeless people.
