Dive into two parallel spiritual odysseys with Sutapa dasa

Explore one of the greatest spiritual quests in history - Narada Muni's journey to find out the devotee who has received the greatest mercy from Krishna. In this two-part seminar we will discuss the wonderful lessons that the Brihad Bhagavatamrita offers us to enrich, enhance and empower our spiritual life so we can reach newer heights in our devotion to Krishna.

Sri Brihad Bhagavatamrita is an epic work composed in Sanskrit during the sixteenth century by Sanatana Goswami, one of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's leading disciples. It is one of the first books written by any of the Six Goswamis of Vrindavan.

Brihad Bhagavatamrita is an exposition of the Bhagavata Purana, or Srimad Bhagavatam. All the knowledge and devotion laid out in the Bhagavatam is presented through an intricate story of two souls' journey toward spiritual perfection. In three volumes, it gives an easily readable account of two great spiritual quests. In one, the Vedic sage Narada searches throughout the universe for finding the greatest recipient of Lord Krishna's mercy or Krishna's greatest devotee. In the other, the cowherd boy Gopa Kumar searches for Krishna Himself—the Supreme Person, the ultimate goal of life. The hero's quest for the extraordinary, a recurring theme in literature, reflects the urge of every heart at its noblest to discover the full possibilities of life. Anyone dissatisfied with the scant potential of mundane existence will rise in hope and excitement by reading of Narada Muni's journey to many planets in the universe to find the person who has received Krishna's (God's) greatest mercy.

The Bhagavatamrita is rooted in ancient history. It is the appendix to the sage Jaimini Rishi's version of the historical saga Mahabharata, and was spoken by the hero of the Srimad Bhagavatam, King Pariksit, to his mother, just moments before this death.

"Sri Sanatana Goswami Prabhu, the teacher of the science of devotional service, wrote several books, of which the Bṛihad Bhagavatamṛita is very famous; anyone who wants to know about the subject matter of devotees, devotional service and Krishna must read this book." - Srila Prabhupada
