Science vs Spirituality

Is there a proof of existence of soul or consciousness separate from the body? In this seminar we will share scientific evidences and the implications and impact of conclusions thereby in our daily life.

Is there a proof of existence of soul or consciousness separate from the body? Does God, a universal consciousness, exist? For the last hundred of years science considered these questions worthless of any inquiry. God and soul were considered by scientists and philosophers as mythology or at best forged conceptions to keep social order and internal peace. But with the advancement of science many philosophers and scientists are of different opinion. There is enough evidence in science, if viewed with an open mind, that shows the existence of Consciousness separate from body and a universal consciousness separate from universe. The problem is not lack of evidence but lack of a proper world-view.

In his book 'The Rediscovery of Mind', John Searle philosopher at University of California, Berkley, comments: "Our problem is not that somehow we have failed to come up with a convincing proof of the existence of God or that the hypothesis of an after life remains a serious doubt... It is rather in our deepest reflections we cannot take such opinions seriously, due to our scientific world-view".

And Wilder Penfield, the father of Neurology, concludes in book The Mystery of Mind: "After a professional life time spent in trying to discover how brain accounts for consciousness, it comes as surprise now to discover, during the final examination of the 'evidence', that the dualist hypothesis (the hypothesis that Consciousness is separate from body) seems more reasonable of two possible explanations."

In this seminar we are going to share some of these scientific evidences and the implications and impact of conclusions thereby in our daily life. We will also share the Vedic perspective of consciousness and its implications for the human society.
