Learn to play kartals, mridanga or harmonium

Traditional musical instruments are crucial for accompanying vibrant and soul-stirring kirtans. Learn different aspects of devotional music from an experienced kirtan musician.

In kirtan the repetitive singing or chanting of mantras and other devotional hymns is accompanied by simple musical instruments. These often include traditional instruments like kartals, mridanga and harmonium.

Along with being one of the main forms of worship, kirtan can be great fun - dancing and singing with friends and others. Playing an instrument in kirtan can enhance the experience for you and everyone present.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn the 6 s's for a kirtaneer
  • ‎How to play basic and advanced rhythms and melodies
