Learn to play the fundamental kirtan instruments from a highly experienced kirtaneer!

Are you up for acquiring new skills to boost your devotional career? This is a ten day workshop for beginners or those with some knowledge, who would like to learn the basics of playing kartals and mridanga.

Along with being one of the main forms of worship, kirtan can be great fun — dancing and singing with friends and others. Playing an instrument in kirtan can enhance the experience for you, and everyone present. Two traditional instruments for kirtan are the mridanga (2-headed clay drum) and the kartals (small hand-cymbals).

You Will Learn:

  • Different playing techniques
  • How to lead standard kirtans
  • How to play slow, medium and fast beats
  • Most convenient and accessible ways of playing
