The Deities

Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara

Installed by Srila Prabhupada in 1969, They are ISKCON“s first full-size Radha-Krishna deities. When asked who were his favourite deities, Srila Prabhupada replied, on more than one occasion, that Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara were the most beautiful.

Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara

Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara are the principal Deities at our temple and the first large Deities in all of ISKCON. Srila Prabhupada himself supervised their installation in December, 1969, at Bury Place. We also have Their Lordships Jagannatha, Baladeva and Subhadra Deities on the second altar.

The installation of these Deities was the culmination of many months of effort; in fact, years of planning had preceded this installation. One hundred years before, Bhaktivinoda Thakur, a great saint in a long historical line of spiritual teachers, had hoped for the day that Krsna consciousness would come to England, and Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati, the spiritual master of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, had also desired it.

Through the installation of Sri Sri Radha Londonishvara, Srila Prabhupada had fulfilled a long-standing order of the previous acaryas (spiritual masters).

They are one of the most prominent sets of deities in the entire western world.
