New Altar for Their Lordships

Dear Devotees,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

For the pleasure of Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha‐Londonisvara, Sri Jagannatha, Baladeva, Lady Subhadra, Sri Sri Gaura Nitai and Giri Govardhana, we are pleased to inform you that we will be offering Them a spectacular new altar! This will include new garbha griha mandapam (altar‐canopy), new simhasanam (throne‐pedestal),new marble flooring, new set of gates, special lighting, under floor heating, air conditioning and a totally remodeled front of the altar.
We have been discussing and planning this work with the specialists since last year and are happy to announce that the construction work will begin on June 7th 2010 (day after Snana Yatra). The goal is to have the new altar ready, in time for the appearance of Lord Balarama which is on
August 24th 2010 (in roughly 8 weeks time). As you can imagine this is going to mean some major temporary modifications in the temple room while the work is being carried out.
The construction work will progress in stages and will be closely managed and monitored by the Temple Altar Renovation Committee. Some important points to note whilst construction progresses:
1. First a temporary altar will be constructed and Their Lordships will be moved to a temporary altar in the temple room. The construction of the temporary altar and moving the deities will take two (2) days. Planned on: June 7th – 8th 2010
2. After the temporary altar is complete, darshana will continue as usual. Entry for the public will be restricted through only one door. See Floor Plan for details.
3. During construction, which will go on in the background, the temple room will be less than half its current size so daily classes as well as the Sunday Feast lectures will take place upstairs
in the seminar room. There may be occasional exceptions to this so please check weekly updates on the notice board for up‐to‐date information.
4. We will update you as much in advance as possible of any important changes to the dates and/or activities which may affect or interrupt normal services in the temple.

Our endeavor will be to ensure that your visit to the temple is as pleasant as always, however due to the nature and scale of this renovation work, there may be restrictions in place that may cause inconvenience to you. We beg for forgiveness and kindly request your patience during this time.
Most importantly we request your sincere prayers that this project may be completed on time and to the highest standards.

If you would like more information on any aspect of the work please do not hesitate to contact me in person or email me on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Thank you.
Yours in the service of Sri Sri Radha‐Londonisvara,
Murli Manohara Das (Head Pujari)

Pre-1985 Darshan Photos Wanted

Dear Devotees,

As you know we are approaching the Ruby Anniversary of 40 years since Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha-Londonisvara were installed and ISKCON officially launched in London.

We are looking for special photos from days gone by - specifically of early days at Bury place or Soho Street.

We would prefer that you do not upload pictures post 1985 unless it is something EXCEPTIONAL.

Here is the place to go and upload your photo - it should be self explanatory how to do it:

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you for the big event in November.

Watch this space.

Your Servant,

Vintage Darshan Photos
Special thank you to Prabhupada das for these special photos. He has been intimately connected with the services of Sri Sri Radha Londonisvara since their installation at Bury Place in 1969. He now lives in Australia with his wife and family.

Each year he comes to London with his wife Rajni and continues to cook offerings for their Lordships.

We are, at the moment, trying  to track down the photos that he took at Bury Place. He lent them to someone and they were never returned. If you know anything about this please let us know as soon as possible. Thank You.
